'What comes around, goes around.' That well worn phrase sprang to my mind this week as I have listened to the news coverage of the scandal involving Newspapers from the News International family.
We have had phone hacking, bribing of police officers and impersonations of senior politicians; all in order to get the next big story. The lengths that some journalists seem to have gone to in order to get a 'scoop' has defiantly crossed the line of decency.
The thing that has brought a wry smile to my face is the fact that the media now find themselves in the position that politicians were in a couple of years ago, they are figures of national disgust. Ironically it was the print media in particular who brought to our attention the fact that many politicians were 'on the take'. Those newspapers reported with a superior 'holier than thou' attitude the many sins of our politician and now two years later we are hearing of their sins.
If one is going to publicly speak about the sins of others then one needs to be careful that there are no skeletons in ones own closet. I think these offending newspapers are learning the reality of the Law of the Harvest.
'Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.' Galatians 6 v7
But what does all this say about society at large? Many politicians are corrupt, many journalists are corrupt and it would seem a good number of police officers are corrupt. Does it stop there? I Doubt it! The problem is humanity is corrupt.
'For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;' Romans 3 v23
Sin is the explanation of all society problems and the only solution to the sin problem is the Lord Jesus Christ. Is he your Saviour?
'If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.' 1 John 1 v9
